Frisbee Golf

Today my kids and I went on an adventure. An adventure of epic proportions! It was called Frisbee Golf. How is Frisbee Golf an epic adventure you ask? Well, let me tell you. It's not as easy as it sounds. Especially if you are as athletically challenged as I am.

My daughter had told me that they had played it with the preschoolers at Vacation Bible School and that the aim was to throw a Frisbee into chains. "Not too hard," I thought. Well, what she and I didn't know was that at VBS, they let the kids "cheat." :) They got to stand in front of the goal and toss the Frisbees into the goal from about a foot away. The course WE played on had hills, valleys, trees, rocks, water, and bushes. And the starting points were always over 200 feet away!

My first clue that this was not going to be an easy sport should have been when my friend told us to wear tennis shoes and bring a bottle of water. "Maybe she doesn't want our feet to get tired," I thought. "Maybe she thinks it is going to be hot," I thought. "Maybe I should have worn hiking boots," I thought as the course went on. I needed mountain climbing equipment for some of the places my Frisbee went! And a machete would have come in handy in places.

Don't get me wrong. We had a blast! I told them it wouldn't have been nearly as much fun if we had all known what we were doing.

My daughter summed up the day well with her facebook post. She stated that although Frisbee Golf was not her thing, at least she looked cute.
